Lecture: The DeRosa Collection
When
18 Feb 2012
10:00 AM
Location
Weston Nurseries, 93 East Main Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748
My name is Jim Marchand. I have been growing orchids for 15+ years - mostly paphs. Last September I bought a large collection of orchids, mostly cattleyas and paphs, from Victor DeRosa. Victor moved down to Florida 2-3 years ago, and it has been difficult for him to keep the collection in top form, so he decided to sell it to someone he knew who cares for it and will care for it - me. Before Victor retired, I used to help him with the shows - I've been to the MOS show two or three times with him. He has been a great friend and mentor of mine.
On Saturday, February 18th, I will be talking at
Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton
. The title of the talk will be "The DeRosa Collection'. I will have a number of plants from the collection available for sale, in bud and in bloom. I will be discussing the plants in the collection, and I will also spend some time talking about Victor. He's told me a lot of stories over the years. I'd like to share them with his fellow orchid lovers, as well as those who know and admire Victor.
