ORCHID VIRUSES
Even the most meticulous and professional orchid vendors may unknowingly sell plants infected with Cymbidium Mosaic Virus, and/or Odontoglossum Ring Spot Virus, the two most common viruses found in orchids. To avoid heartache and potentially spreading these diseases, we recommend before purchasing your orchids inquiring if the plants in question have been virus tested. Ask your vendor what their policy is in case you receive a plant, test it, and discover it is in fact infected. Inquire whether they will refund your purchase or replace the diseased orchid with another.
If you happen to be a member of Facebook, you'll find useful feedback from growers about their experiences buying from orchid vendors in a group called “USA Orchid Vendor Reviews, Rants & Complaints”.
